Dr Diana Coffey is a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Guildford, Surrey with a wide range of experience in adult psychiatry and old age psychiatry. She has worked in the NHS and as an independent psychiatrist for over twenty years. Being on the GMC specialist register in psychiatry, she has special experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. Dr Coffey is also on the Approved Clinicians’ list.
Dr Coffey is an accredited medico-legal expert and holds a Bond Solon Expert Witness Certificate from Cardiff University Law School. She has experience in various capacity related issues, including Court of Protection forms.
Prior to embarking on psychiatric training, Dr Coffey worked as a GP and an emergency doctor. She is interested in new developments regarding diagnosis and new treatments of medical and neuropsychiatric conditions.
Dr Coffey undertook her initial psychiatric training by completing the UMDS/ South Thames training scheme in psychiatry at Guy’s and St Thomas College, London. Her training placements were primarily in Sussex and London. She completed her higher specialist training in psychiatry on the North East Thames training scheme, mainly in London but also in Essex. During Dr Coffey’s psychiatric training, she gained experience in all areas of psychiatry including both inpatient and outpatient General Adult Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Old Age, Liaison Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry.
Dr Coffey holds experience in all areas of psychiatry, with additional experience and training in psychotherapy. She assesses and treats patients around Surrey with depression, bipolar affective disorder, psychosis, bereavement, stress, personality issues, post-traumatic stress disorder, mild cognitive disorder, dementia, menopausal mood changes, and other conditions.
Dr Coffey’s clinical interests are in the field of psychiatry for adults over the age of 18. She assesses and treats patients with the most common psychiatric conditions. Dr Coffey is particularly interested in combining her skills as a doctor with psychotherapy and management of physical health problems.
Her other areas of interest are assessment and management of memory problems, menopausal problems, mild cognitive disorder and dementia.

Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Persons Mental Health at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. She assesses and treats elderly patients around the Guildford area who present with functional mental disorders or cognitive problems. She runs a weekly Memory clinic to assess and diagnose various memory problems. Previously, she treated with working age adults with various psychiatric disorders including all common mental disorders, personality problems, substance misuse issues and emotional problems.

Depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder, menopausal mood changes, memory problems, mild cognitive disorder, treatment of dementia, mental health problems in older people.
